Better Late Then Never

Shoot - it has been quite along time....but in reality I am not sure who reads this anyway- but here's to the world wide web. I've been busy - seminary and ministry - both of which are going well as I do not do either on my own but with the help of the Spirit. This week was crazy. I've had so many big conversations in my head, many by which have been propelled by conversations with friends and professors.

If you haven't seen it yet - please see the following two movies. Romero and The Motorcycle Diaries. Both speak to an individual journeying through ethical decsisions that impact the lives of others. So many times we don't stand up when we ought to.....christian or non. I am guilty of the same crime, but shoot sometimes isn't the injustice and the elitism of life too much for you? PLEASE NOTE: Not that I am a believer in the communism that Marx boasted and believed in, but didn't some of things he said make sense?

"The poor have nothing to lose but their chains. They have the world to win."-KM 1848 (His Manifesto)

In Howard Snyder's book Kingdom, Church, and World, in which we are reading for a class at Asbury, he descrbes the Kingdom of God as a place where there will be justice for the poor. In the meantime, he challenges the church, to strive for this Kingdom principle in every day living until God ushers in this new Kingdom - working toward a new Kingdom on earth that will take care of the poor, impoverished, the fatherless, and the orphaned. I believe this is work for Kingdom people - God's children, and my hope is that the church remembers.

On another note we have had some very interesting conversation online about the Kingdom verses the Country. In my opinion, once again we are hearing that rehtoric of nationalism and religion along with patriotism. I do not understand why the three must walk hand in hand as I do not think it is truly Biblical, but to honor my brothers and sisters who feel strongly about such I work within their "box" - a quote from a fellow blogger out in the big web universe posted the following:

Call me a Christian, a Buddhist, a mystic, a heretic, an apostate, an unbeliever. Your labels are your business. All I want is to know God’s heart, and reflect it. What really is there, but God’s divine love, underneath and within all things, causing them to be? And what purpose is there except to realize it? Show me a national boundary that God respects, which neither the wind nor the Spirit cross. Then I’ll take countries seriously. Till then, enjoy the dream. Or wake up.

I think that just about sums it up for me at times. But man it is a journey and I pray that we can continue on with perseverance.

sorry for the rantings tonight - what a strange mood I have found myself in
Blessings
